I kid you not: I thought one was going to surface right under my kayak!
Shortly after they had surfaced nearby, I stopped paddleing to see what they would do next. While sitting, I could see the water boil-up all around me like a mighty big fish had pushed an enormus upwelling of water from directly below me.
He must have swam directly under me!
It got the adrenaline racing! But the whale must have been far below the surface because I couldn't see the shadowy outline of it... Believe me I was looking!
Maui was awesome. I'll go back.
