Under the hood

My Commodore 64 Programmers Reference guide (c 1983) included full datasheets on the chips, including pinouts, signal timing diagrams and such. The machine was simple enough that you could explain everything from BASIC down to the 6510 address bus in a single 300 page book. It was cool to understand, more or less, how the machine worked from the ground up.
