I don't visit Flame often but I figured this was an appropriate venue. US citizens have just the tax code they rightfully deserve. This complex amalgam of special interest after special interest is considered 'unfair' by a vast majority polled. Even with software if you sell property, are self employed or own rental property there are myriad potential complications. Then there's the elephant in the living room, the heinous AMT. Given this, these same self-interested cretins also poll strongly against any reform that might delete their favorite deductions. Why we do not institute a flat fair tax based on consumption, not income, is beyond me. If folks save and don't spend much, they benefit more than those who are profligate. A basis adjustment is easily applied for families with #s of children.
