I think the anti-nuke "movement" has lost a lot of steam.
One indicator of this is the lack of interest by their own on protesting the MER launches. A few ounces at a time and you could send any amount of radioactive material into space with virtually no protest.
Another thing to ponder is how the cost of oil is effecting the environmental movement in general. I get the impression a move towards more nuclear plants in the USA is not such an unthinkable thing as it once was.
