Agreed.
I agree completely...a hot spring on mars would likely build an ice edifice of some kind, similar to the silica/sulfide towers built by vents on the sea-floor.
Did you see my OT post a few months back on the fumarole tower in Antarctica? It also had a link to the ice tower site in Alaska.
