I dont know, Tom- ask yourself this- How much is America worth if it sinks to the level of barbarians? Would you feel proud living in a country that condones torture?

You're dodging it somewhat, but that's a sideways answer of sorts. I don't think anybody would argue that it is worth some lives to preserve our American values.

It doesn't help that we have managed to redefine "torture" to mean "anything that makes a prisoner unhappy." There has been a wide range of abuse in this war, and it is ridiculous to class someone being shown a set of hooters in the same category as, for example, letting someone be chewed on by a dog.
