I am not challenging that they did this, but HOW did they do this?!
My understanding is that most choppers cannot land on the summit of Mauna Kea- and that is just 14000 feet. In fact, if you have a life-threatening medical problem on the summit you can forget about getting airlifted out- the procedure in such events is to transport the victim to lower altitude so that EMS can get to them...
So how was this copter souped up to allow it to land AND take off at nearly twice that altitude?
My understanding is that typical choppers can land on the summit of Mauna Kea but they cant take off- what was different about this chopper?
Additionally, I have no problem with these people choosing to risk their lives doing this... I do wonder if they needed and had permission to try this stunt, If they had landed and not been able to take off again then their chopper would be a monumental piece of litter on the summit of Everest... seems like a very irresponsible stunt...
