It was a first.
It can have very useful applications (saving mountain climbers even if it can't be guaranteed under any kind of weather).
It's a technology demonstration and a stunt.
Americans have done stunts too, many more times. Just happens this time it wasn't american.
They had all the needed authorizations, I read.
