And drinking is LEGAL.
Not while driving.
So just because a legal substance gets abused, we should allow the illegal ones too?
The argument that a legal substance gets abused, and legalizing an illegal one would also be abused is not an argument I'd ever make unless I were arguing against legalizing it.
I'm not against allowing some use for medicinal purposes, but with some conditions. It needs to be a controlled substance, like other RX drugs. They can only medicate in their homes. Their driver's licenses get suspended until they quit medicating, and they can't have kids living in the house.
The argument that Dr's prescribe far more addictive medication is a good one. I would counter though that in these circimstances there is no danger of kids being exposed to the medication while its being administered. I don't think that's the case when smoking marijuana in the presense of kids.
