While I am one who tends to dismiss conspiracy theories I have to say there is no doubt the defense department had to have an eye on this baby. The Egyptian geologist is nuts if he thinks there is no value in learning about comets. But at the same time kinetic energy weapons from space are not a new idea and seeing one in action like this is impressive. Obviously if we can hit a comet with that kind of accuracy we can hit the earth as well. Another very important reason for taking the high ground and securing space. Future enemies could use this on us.
