Off Topic » in reply to Unfair to Don.

I call em as I read em.

And having read about two hundred of Don's casualty posts I'm afraid I just don't see the depth you do. It's just throwing tacks on the ground and hoping someone steps on them. (oh..how careless of me...I forgot he is simply "reminding" everyone of the "truth" as he sees it. ;-)

Not my idea of enlightened debate, and also not my idea of someone who displays their love of country. A country is made up of people. You, me, Don, Fox, Frank, P, Lindy...we all are Americans. When you truly love your country, you must also care about all the people in it. When you do care about them you show them a certain respect.

The difference between James Carroll and Don is Don's posts are more succinct and don't as skillfully conceal their contempt of Bush, conservatives or the war.

A good propagandist must be readable. He/she must either lure you in with interesting anecdotes or creatively reiterate the talking points in a way that they are less visible. If a propagandist can actually weave humor into his pieces that'll work too.

Repetition is the curse of the writer. Get into a repetitive rut and your readers will never forgive you. Don got into a rut about 496 posts ago.

That said, I still wish Don all the best as he writes his book: The Iraq US Casualty Count in Single Digit Increments (with notation). Sure, it may not sell as many pre-orders as Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince, but we can't all be J.K Rowling now...can we?
