I had viewed Babylon 5 as the last gasp in truly great sci-fi TV... I thought all the future held was more dreck like 'sliders' and 'andromeda'... but I have been pleasantly surprized by a few shows...

I was sure 'Stargate' would suck immensely, and quite a few times it has, especially at first- but it has been developing a fairly cohesive plot and has had some very well done episodes...

I have to admit it still grates on me that they didnt even TRY to address the fact all these other races have no damn business speaking English... <sigh>....

Another big surprise was the remake of battlestar galactica... I was so certain that that would be a loser I didnt even try to catch it on TV... then one weekend SCI-Fi channel Played a few episodes back to back and there was nothing else on so I left it on as I worked around the house- I was genuinely impressed, It is actually very intelligently done and works well... kudos to the writers!

Stargate Atlantis does NOT impress me... The wraith are too much like some mystical boogeymen...

I have always thought a series set on Larry Niven's 'Ringworld' could really be a big hit... anyone else agree? The world in Greg Bear's 'Eon' also has potential....
