solid vs liquid
It is my impression that SRBs give a much rougher ride than liquid rockets? Is that a concern when it comes to deciding what to use for the CEV. I was thinking it would have an effect on the design of the CEV. It would have to be more rugged to withstand the rough ride a solid rocket would give. Perhaps I'm overstating the roughness of the SRBs. I do notice during shuttle launches that the crew is shaking around a lot during SRB burns, and smoothes out after they are separated. The crews have commented on that often.
