re: Aborting from a solid fuel booster
When an SRB fails it can happen very fast. I remember a Delta 2 in which one of it's strap-on SRBs failed. The entire stack instantly disappeared in a tremendous cloud with burning pieces flying all over the place. There was no indication of a problem prior to that. I wonder if an abort system could react fast enough to save the CEV in such an instance.
