To give you an idea of the increase in resolution - using the self-portait deck-pans, and the navcam mosaic of purgatory dune, I recreated two images at approx accurate resolution

This is using CPROTO technique on MOC on MGS

And this...is with HiRISE on MRO

It's a rough guestimate - but that's the difference between 0.5x1.5m pixels, and 0.3x0.3m in R & BG pixels
