Current Events » in reply to Egypt gets $2b+ a year. It's the least they can do.

"When Egypt controlled Gaza, what did they ever do for the 'Palestinians'?"

Pretty much the same thing Jordan did for the Palestinians when they owned the West Bank for many years.

The first mistake a well-meaning person makes in this issue is assuming that concern about the Palestinians' welfare or the injustice of an "illegal occupation" has anything at all to do with the anti-Israel positions of the Arab world and far too many people elsewhere.

If the territory that currently comprises Israel had, sometime in the past been annexed by Syria, Egypt, or Jordan, there wouldn't even be such a category as a "Palestinian" today, and nobody would have cared in the least. What response was there from the Arab world when Lebanon was occupied by Syria? Any at all?

This isn't about promoting the rights of an oppressed people. It's about a violent allergy to Jews by those in the region.
