0 input from the guys at langley says it all. It's about going to Mars in the long run EP. Bush appointed a real engineer with a real interest in Mars. A man with a plan that focuses on minimizing costs and is not likely to spend 10 times as much as he needs to to deal with the impact threat. Deal with it. LSST, PAN-STARRS, and DCT will take care of the small impactor survey for far less than CAPS. Humans to Mars will help reinvigorate our technology to the point that we might have some hope of dealing with short notice comets.
