Glad the headline caught your attention, Fox. That's what it was written to do. Since you're here, Let's dance.
Those are really good questions, Fox. I'm certain that the science attaches of several countries embassies, those countries whose citiznes are dying of cancer caused by increased UV exposure, are also interested in the answers to them. I suppose you should ask them about the causal link, as they are more intimately familiar with it. My rate is $2,000 per hour, but as I am very busy right now, ask them.
Its not my theory, I'm just a journalist with no chemical training, and I most certainly did not believe it myself when I first heard it. It took a lot of legwork to dig out the researchers, but I do know where the bodies were buried, and I also know who buried them. I ask and pray forgiveness from the victims for not pursuing the story further at the time. The EELvs were coming along, and the RLV was scheduled to replace the shuttle in 2005 - no more SRBs.
That is, the RLV was coming along before the Mars Nuts killed it.
By the way, the freon reaction does not take place in the "Southern artmosphere circulation system" as you put it, and the possible role for aluminum is as a catalyst not consumed in the reaction. The only further comment I care to add here at the uninhabitable zone is to observe that the rate of ozone depletion dropped off after the Challenger grounding. If it has fallen off again during the Columbia grounding, and that is a big if, then ATK's win won't mean anything.
At least 58% of the people of the US don't want their tax dollars spent paying ATK or anyone else for that matter to send men to Mars. When, not if, the US economy comes under any pressure, no coalition of Congressmen and Senators is going to be able to stop the cancellation of any manned Mars program. There is imply no reason for sending a few men to Mars now.
My extreme regret is not attacking manned Mars flight completely from the very start, which is the strategy I should have pursued, constantly demanding justification for mannesd Mars flight, and then "misunderstanding" the answers. It would have been far better, and much easier: the best defense is a good attack. For that matter, I should even have objected to tax dollars being spent on Mars rovers, made them fight for evey dime, as that fight would have worn the Mars Cultists down, and would not have changed the results, which show Mars to be uninhabitable. Follow Newt's example, make them fight for everything - Attack politics works.
I have never claimed that the sky is falling, but I have demonstrated that asteroids and comets do strike the Earth far more frequently than senior NASA management is claiming. As far as priorities go, despite the Congressional legisltaion telling NASA to handle this, what NASA intends to do in response to the Brown ammendment is trot out Morisson to low ball the comet impact hazard, and then Weiler will point to the AF telescopes as a good reason for NASA to do nothing.
Since when the next one of these hits, a whole lot of people are going to die, I suppose you can figure out exactly how much concern I have about interrupting the fantasies of the Habitable Zone's Mars Cultists, as well as how much of my time I'm willing to give them.
What you want is at the Mars Society bbs.

I think that the Mars Society provides exactly what you are looking for
