"Safe Zones"
Like Bagdad where mostly American troops patrol the area; not the rest of Iraq, that is still left out in the open for the insurgents to do their job.
Ever look at their streets during the news shots? They're bombed out, and falling apart. I like watching the latest where you can actually SEE where they've blurred out parts of the backdrop which are probably buildings destroyed by mortar fire.
You cannot deny the lack of electricity, clean water and thriving marketplaces and the thousands who have no homes left. And are they ambivalent towards us? Oh yeah. I'll bet a lot of them who had no political opinion BEFORE the invasion, sure have one now.
