I'm not sure of the order of these posts, and whether you read my post to you on the earlier thread below before commenting here. But by no means am I saying that this subject should be offlimits. I just think that it can wait a bit, and that the issues are in fact so vitally important that it would behoove us to wait until we can talk about it with a minimum of rancor. The danger is that injecting what may be taken as partisan comments (regardless of how they're intended) now will create an obstacle to discussion later--people remember and hold grudges.
There's great power in remaining calm while others froth, and in knowing when to speak and when to keep quiet. Discretion is a rhetorical force multiplier. Let's take the high ground, OK?
