That's a remarkable list when you look at it, because the most substantial offers of help come from some of the least likely sources. Cuba's offer is relatively large for the country's size, and there's the Venezuelan President offering to help, a man whose assassination is demanded by Mullah Robertson. Iran pledged an unspecified amount that may come to nothing, but coming from a country that our President has all but declared war on, that's a bit unexpected.
I agree that it's disappointing to see some of our wealthiest friends seem stingy, but it's heartening to see the smaller countries making a proportionately large effort on our behalf. I'm just as grateful to Sri Lanka for coming up with $25,000 as I am to Qatar for finding $100 million in petty cash. It's the thought that counts, Lee.
