Don't bite the outstretched hand
And where have we been when Japan has had natural disasters? Do we just respond when it's big enough to make the news? I hope not.
It's easy to point fingers and scoff. I doubt the people who are in the midst of this horror are scoffing at offers of help. I would imagine they are, rather, saying, "Why hasn't the US taken up these offers expeditiously?" Pride kills. It's killing people as we sit here comfortably in our homes arguing over what should or should not be done or how. It only matters that it GETS done and fast. Is the US too proud to take these countries up in their offers?
