I should let our community here know that the effects of Katrina have arrived here. Our organization has been recruited to provided assistance to a number of families that have lost their homes. I spent most of today working on preparations to accommodate their arrival, probably by late next week. In addition, we have already dispatched emergency medical staff to the region and have offered up a host of other public health and building safety professionals to join the response effort. We have also made available a very specialized and unique piece of equipment that provides for the rapid sterile handling of corpses in mass casualty situations - an unfortunate but necessary capacity. Some very tough times ahead, but we're happy to do what we can.
