That is good work, Donald.
My wife’s folks have taken in a family into their home. My wife and I are sponsoring another family through our church. We have two Methodist churches in our Neighborhood, and between them, they are helping about 700 People. Katrina Families are being put up in local homes that are vacant. We have provided furniture and tons of baby stuff to the Family we are sponsoring. Plus we are helping my wife’s folks with the family they took in.
I keep running into Katrina evacuees all over town. The one thing I have found is they all want to talk. They’ll talk about the storm, or where they are from, but they just want to talk, so we listen and give encouragement. I was at Kroger yesterday looking at some fish when this lady came up and said, “Those are nice looking fish. We have fish like that back home. I am from Louisiana…â€
It seems overwhelming at times. There are so many displaced people.
