I am a man at peace with himself and his world. A man who doesn't feel the need to go whining to complete strangers and complain to them how conspirators and traitors have worked tirelessly to take away from him what he is entitled to.
This country is full of middle-class, middle age losers like you. You bought into the program and you got taken for a ride--no disgrace there, but you're too stubborn and proud to admit that you were lied to, and that you believed the lie, and now that it isn't working out the way they promised you have to blame someone else for your problems and failures. But most of all you hate yourself for your inability to see it coming, especially when people like me have been telling you you were heading for a fall all along. It's not my fault it happened, and certainly not my fault you didn't see it coming. It is yours.
You don't want to know what happened. You don't want to know why or how it happened. What you want is for me to tell you it wasn't your fault. Well, I'm sorry. I'm not going to do that. I might have been polite enough not to bring it up, but you have mistaken my compassion for stupidity, my empathy for cowardice, and my counsel for weakness.
