You sound as if you think Miers possesses some actual qualification for the position of Supreme Court Justice. All I, and a lot of other people, can see is that her sole qualifications consist of a) proven personal loyalty to Bush ("she'll vote the way I would" or words to that effect); and b) solid Evangelical credentials. The Right isn't comfortable with her, judging by the reaction so far. Do you have inside information? Why do you think Miers would be a good Justice?
I mean, seriously, just how unqualified does a Supreme Court nominee have to be to compel Pat Buchanan to sound like the voice of reason? Apparently as unqualified as Miers, judging by Buchanan's comments this morning on Meet the Press. He dared confront the question of her utter lack of professional experience, and dared to ask how it could be that Harriet Miers is the best possible person to serve on the Supreme Court that Bush could find in a country of more than a quarter billion people. (Scary thought to notice how often these days Buchanan sounds reassuringly sensible compared to Bush and his NeoCon colleagues. I find myself getting nostalgic for RealConservatives™.)
C'mon, Tom, give us the real scoop on Harriet.
