Had to gloss over the math, but I got the idea. As a premise for a sci-fi story, it's at least as valid as the digits of Pi, or "junk DNA".

Without having to go back to the paper... Did they address the resolution needed from the CMB anisotropy before pattern-searching might be fruitful?
