Downtown ball parks
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarggggggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
While Citizens Bank Park in Philly is really a great ballpark and at least an order of magnitude better than the Vet, it should, woulda, coulda been downtown, or close to it.
An incompetent mayor (and his waffling predecessor), a hostile UPenn, and other locals managed to create enough of a fuss and confusion that it ended up in the no-mans land of the stadium complex in South Philly.
Somewhere near the old Convention center (now demolished anyway alas), or near the Post Office on the Schuylkill, or next to the Delaware, or just about anywhere except South Philly would have been great.
