What a hoot.
The fine dialect of "Pirate" is entirely the creation and responsibility of deceased English actor Robert Newton, who made the role of "Long John Silver" his own in "Treasure Island". The characterization was perfect, not just the dialect, but the mannerisms and gestures of the old buccaneer were beautifully interpreted. Newton, a British matinee idol and Shakespearean actor, had many triumphs on film and the stage, but is (sadly) now mostly remembered for his unforgettable performance in the Disney film. It's ironic, but the young men keeping his legacy alive on that short video are no doubt the children of parents who were thrilled by that movie when they were youngsters. If you ever get the chance to pick up that video, do so. Your kids deserve to see it and you'll love it too.
Raise yer cups to Long John, shipmates. May ye always have fair winds and following seas, matey. Aaargh!
