Just finished watching “The American Experience, The Race to the Moon” on PBS. Great show about Apollo 8. It actually had some info I had not heard before. Another good touch was the audio recorded in the cabin during re-entry that I had never heard before.

I am surprised that they were so pessimistic about the chances for success. They gave it only 50/50 chance. What I recall of my own experience from the time was great confidence in that it would succeed. I always thought they wouldn’t do it if they didn’t think it had a good chance of success, so I was never worried. Again…a great show!
