...then this may sound really strange, but I'm finding the introductory chapters kind of interesting. Chapter Two's a history of the US tax system, and Chapter Three's an overview of how the system works. I'm finding some interesting stuff in there about unintended consequences, effective tax rates, and how the tax burden is analyzed and what the results show. I hadn't ever really considered that we have a hybrid system, that taxes not only income, but also indirectly taxes consumption through preferences to promote savings.
But you probably already know all that.
