Good and Evil

Evil: "Torture should be used only in the most extreem cases..."

Good: Torture for the "most extreme cases" as determined by people with a torture mentality...not very reassuring, Mr. Evil.

Evil: "Most terrorists are lower level fools who wouldn't yeild any information."

Good: But, torture them anyway...you never know. Right? And if they have no useful information, so what. Torturing your enemies makes you feel powerful in a medieval sort of way, which is the real motivation for torture.

Evil: "Only those who would have info to give should be tortured...Thus the courts should be involved...Secret courts...Where an advocate could argue on behalf of the terrorist and a prosecutor could argue in favor of the people who lives would be saved."

Good: Lets say the American citizen classified by the U.S. government as an "enemy combatant" proves resistant to torture. The government needs the information -- lives are at stake. So the government goes back to the secret court and asks the secret judge to authorize the torture/executions of the "friends and family of the 'enemy combatant.'" The "enemy combatant" would be forced to watch the torture/executions (in a secret torture/execution chamber of intelligent design), which will end only when the desired life-saving information is obtained, or when the "friends and family of the 'enemy combatant'" have all died from the torture/executions. (The dead would then be buried in secret, unmarked graves.)

Sound good, Mr. Evil?
