Hospitals are not healthy places.
Shortened stays are not a problem. Hospitals are the best places in the world to go if you want to get a staph infection. The less exposure to all the resistant viruses and bacteria living in the Hotel for the Sick, the better.
Insufficient care is a problem. Care can be delivered at office appointments. However, if you haven't got insurance, it's hard to get those.
Insufficient convalescence is another issue. Someone should go to the house and help Mom out so she can sleep once in a while. Someone is not always available, especially if everyone has to hold down a paying job.
