Ok...

I certainly won't to deny that women have been shortchanged (putting it mildly!!) by the medical establishment, I also think it is fair to say that this inequity has been recognized by the medical establishment and that it has been actively trying to rectify that...

Incompetence happens in the medical profession... it has hurt me (in small ways) and possibly killed people I knew- BUT it is still the only place to turn to. For the most part the 'alternatives' to modern medicine range from useless to criminally dangerous shams.

I have a real problem with people buying into the conspiracy theory that the goal of medicine is to keep people sick... (MANY people buy into this nonsense) I have seen this nonsense pushed on info-mercials and new age gurus.... healthy skepticism is good, irrational distrust of the medical professionals is dangerous.

There is NO good reason for saying that sonograms are dangerous... that simply is not supported by decades of data. It is CERTAIN that sonograms have done FAR more good than harm. Is getting a sonogram to determin the health of the fetus a good idea? Yes... Is getting a sonogram just to determine the sex of the baby a responsible thing to do? I dont know, its harmless, but seems a little selfish. Is using sonograms recreationally and repeatedly just for kicks a good idea? NO, it is a misuse of medical technology in a way it was never meant to be used.

As for birth control pills, do you think women would be better off if their availability had been delayed 20 years while all possible long term effects had been studied?
