re: No, not at all !!! Ressurances and regrets

How many US soldiers died in 1991? 160 I believe.
The war lasted 16 days.
It didn't cost much to the US as it was mostly payed by Saudi Arabia.
The purpose was to chase the Iraqis away from Kuwait.
It worked and Saddam never again invaded another country.
The UN had inspectors who got rid of weapons and checked that no new ones were built. It also established a no fly zone and no Iraqi plane ever threatened Israel or closer countries and were no match against the US jet fighters.
The UN oil for food scandal involves individuals and no whole countries.

And now, Bush junior invades Iraq, with various justifications (which weakens them all) and gets caught in the quagmire.
Meanwhile, Bin Laden is still somewhere we don't know and Iraq has become the center of international terrorism which it wasn't before.

I'm reassured we now realize that invading a country which is no threat to the world and without an international mandate and commitment does not pay off.
I regret the loss of lives and its consequences.

The international principle of non interference with internal matters of sovereign states is more valid than ever.
