No. I think sending fissionables to space is something that people will reasonably question.
Sometimes scientists and engineers do things that seem reasonable to them, but do not seem reasonable to the public.
I admit freely that the scientists and engineers are usually right and the questioners are usually wrong. That does not mean that the public should just trust them to do whatever they want. These space missions belong to the public. American airspace belongs to the public.
