That substancial change in bankruptsy law ......

Should have been termed the "Bankers bail out" law. Banks have profited hugely by widely distributing high interest credit cards and encouraging excessive debt.

Bankruptcy has been a remedy since the bad experiences of debtor prisons before the start of this country. It was a device to allow people that fell into unmanageable debt to have a rasa tabla and start over again without having to dig out of hole. The change in the Bankruptcy laws gave a new protection to banks while attacking the poor by denying them the ability to start over.

However, the origninal point was that more Americans are being forced into bankruptcy this year than ever before in the history of this country.
