You guys aren't thinking deep or far enough

Glued to a TV screen? By then you will have direct sensory inputs from the Moon/Mars via NASA into your brains. You will see and feel exactly what the astronauts are experiencing.

Of course if anyone is still nostalgic by then, you can always gather the family around the VR input/output connection with the fiber optic wires extruding from your skulls. Kinda like when we all sat around the TV watching Apollo 11 on that warm summer night in 1969 - except of course your home environment will be entirely climate controlled, due to the increasing global warming. Your home will also be up on stilts due to the icecaps melting having flooded most of the continents.

Wait a minute - I'm not thinking deep enough! By 2018 most people who have not decided to have their brains transplanted into new clone bodies will have opted to download their minds into either an android body or the Internet, which by then will be called Gaia and well on its way to becoming a vast global mind. The spaceships will no longer need human crews - too expensive, too resource intensive, too messy, too slow in the data processing department - but for those who still want to see a spacesuited astronaut plant a flag on alien soil, Gaia will induce a virtual image of such an event, while real AI machines are conducting analyses and making conclusions and discoveries in a fraction of the time once done the old human way.

Then they will begin to dismantle the Sol system....
