A friend was taking images of the Moon with his telescope and digital camera a few years back and he produced several images with a dot in the same spot in the shadowed area.
So he was every excited and looked into whether he had in fact caught and impact event in progress.
The short version of a very long story is it was a flaw in the digital camera in his case.
