re: Quantradid?

A "meteor" is the visible result of a body (a meteoroid) burning as it travels through the atmosphere. A "fireball" is any meteor brighter than magnitude -4 (this is a formal IAU definition). "Bolide" is a rather old fashioned term, deprecated by the IAU and without formal definition. It is still used by some researchers to refer to a meteor that breaks apart, but its use is avoided by others. Personally, I never use the term.
