Right after Bush threatened Bin Laden on national TV, he also agreed for a 30 day no-fly zone over the Afganistan/Pakistan border, which of course let Bin Laden get away. He probably did this to please the Pakistani government and to prevent an escalation of the war.
I'll bet a deal was made.
Should we get bin Laden?
Of course,..... but then again, isn't anyone interested in what he has up his sleeve for a "truce"? It might help settle matters.
However, I'm sure he'd want us out of all Muslim countries and we're not prepared to do that. And we're not willing to give up control of Iraq's oil either. So, don't expect peaceful relations anytime soon.
If Bush isn't even willing to listen to the other side, then we can expect Al Queda operatives to continue a secretive attack on America; maybe this time within our borders and maybe with biological weapons. Or poisoning our water supply. This would be horrible. Then what?
What Bin Laden has proposed sounds workable, if we are vigilant:
>" both sides can enjoy security and stability under this truce so we can build Iraq and Afghanistan, which have been destroyed in this war.
There is no shame in this solution, which prevents the wasting of billions of dollars that have gone to those with influence and merchants of war in America.â€
However, he is acting like he has the solution and is asking to become the new leader of the Muslim world:
>"“If I were president, I would stop the attacks on the United States. First I would apologize to all the widows and orphans and those who were tortured. Then I would announce that American interference in the nations of the world has ended,†he said.
Well, fat chance of that too. We're in a quagmire, all of us........with puppies in our laps.
