I would, just for the company. :8~P
Though, it does make you wonder, if a ship is an intelligent lifeform in its own right, what would it need crew for?
In some of my stories the ship functions are handled by a self-aware AI. Which is considered a viable candidate for Citizenship once the costs of construcion are paid off. With all rights, obligations required as such, including paying taxes and its own maintenance. As such, would a human crew be absolutely needed? At least for Civilian purposes.
Military ships would require at least a human command presence, I doubt even then unfettered access to lethal technologies would be given freely. More likely Military applications would require a considerable crew. Not only for weapons control, but for damage control.
Maybe the old S/F series, The Ship Who Sang isn't so farfetched.
