If anything, people who think that God or a god made and runs the Universe should not be so amazed at or try to limit the abilities of such a powerful being.
Very good point and actually, I have met religious people who accept that with no problem.
So, reactions to first contact would probably be driven by psychology and attitudes to 'the other' rather than ideologies or theologies. Hope that's true, anyway, since attitudes can be worked on and improved .. dogma (of whatever nature) however is fixed.
