Low humidity up there?
Those small particles apparently can maintain a charge imbalance much easire than larger ones making them electrostatically stickey. Thus the popularity of electrostatic air filters where mold spores and automobile exaust are prevalent. Both produce micron sized particles that are well filteres by such devices.
