It is insane here in hawaii... my mom recently sold ~50 acres in oklahoma for ~$60,000, The small lot next to where I live is less than an acre and was full of trees and it went for $170,000. Very mediocre houses go for $400,000- we are talking one level maybe 2 bedroom houses....
I do not see how a family can buy a first house here if they make a typical wage, however if you buy a house you can expect a ridiculous return on your investment... I know one fellow that had his house value go up $100,000 in less than a year...
But HOW is someone working for a grocery store supposed to afford a decent house, when a decent house could cost 300-500 thousand? The house I am renting could go for over 400 thousand. It is a 2 bedroom 2 full bathrooms, a kitchen and a dining area and a room I could use as an office...
