Space/Science » in reply to re: MRO over 2 weeks and no news

I went there before I started this thread and there was no news.

I'm making a simple suggestion, that a little effort in PR would engage more people in the process of space science. A blog would be little overhead and would personalize the process of space exploration. The blog doesn't have to be completely dry and about only science details. And obviously, even if the general public is not very interested, there is a core segment of space afficionados that form an important supportive force for space exploration. Why not feed them info to keep them happy and excited?

As far as the aerobraking details, if it was worth doing for previous spacecraft why not MRO? Why do many of the space probe homesites put up a countdown timer to launch, sometimes years in advance? These are simple informative displays that gives some indication of progress, like the odometer of a car on a trip. I could understand ot doing this stuff if we are talking shoestring budget micro craft, but a billion dollar mission?
