Boy, I couldn't agree more. I think there are some very radical Islamics right now wringing their hands in delight at the squirming of Christians. I'm as equally worried as you are that the deck is not stacked fairly in this case. Part of my tolerance for Christianity is that generally, it accepts people's digs at it with only cursory bitching and moaning. The burning people at stakes period is for the most part history now.
Islam is a different beast with Koran text that can be more easily manipulated to signify that Allah intends for his worshippers to carry out some real carnage to ensure his name's not taken in vain. I don't hold a lot of hope out that the more peaceful proponents of Islam will win the struggle with the militant part.
Somehow we truly need to get the message out to all the religions that it's all just concepts created by very confused and power-hungry men. It's going to be a footrace between the rational men and women on Earth and the ones who'll bring us kicking and screaming into Armagheddon. Time for new tennis shoes?
