re: Questions...

"This is interesting, but based on what I've seen so far, I wouldn't call it an earthshaking piece of information. Given the huge piles of all kinds of munitions tucked away throughout Iraq, it would be odd if some of them weren't pre-Gulf-war WMDs."

Well, I wouldn't call it earthshaking, nor really unexpected.
But it is a further instance of Saddam violating the cease fire agreement. And as one of our concerns was that Saddam would give such weapons to terrorists, we have found enough stockpiles for this kind of limited use- in hands of terrorists this kind of quantity would be a serious threat [100,000 people could be killed with just portion of this stockpile]. Though this quantity of stockpile would not be significant for use in a battlefield- and may explain why Saddam didn't use them- he simply did not have enough- at least not enough to use against the US miltary which had protective suits and was a highly mobile military force.

But also, Santorum is disappointed that more of document could not be made unclassified. And he did acknowledge that releasing some portions of document could aid terrorists obtain these weapons- but wanted other portions of the document released.
The search for WMD continues and one of Santorum purposes is to get further declassification of this and other documents as long as this would not aid the enemy.
