Heavy water versus sodium

I gather the thorium uses heavy water (but you may be right), but the integral advocates seem to think the problems are solvable with sodium. Integral Fast reactors aren't like the old style breeders because of the burning of all the uranium - hot spots of fissioning plutonium seem less an issue.
