The human mind is extremely plastic. There are people who believe in creationism, the virgin birth of Christ, that George Bush didn't lie, who deny anthropormorphic global warming and who would all pass lie detector tests. They can, will and do believe anything they want to defying logic, facts and reality.
Santa can exist for these people, or people like them. Just because someone doesn't believe in Santa, just because there is no evidence for Santa, just because Santa doesn't make any sense does not make Santa any the less real for some people.
And Santa can be black, white, red, yellow or any other damned color. Whatever the believer wants.
It's not a "gringo" thing. It's a human thing, and although gringo's are human, so is anyone to whom an ethnic slur would apply.
Santa certainly does exist for some people. As much as Conservative fiscal responsibility exists, in the minds of the true believers.
